Trees and Hedges

We’ve learnt through bitter experience that if we turn our back on this garden it goes feral. In the early days we would cautiously trim and prune, an inch here, an inch there.

Now we are more slash and burn. So far we’ve had very few losses, in fact we often think we’ve killed something and then it bounces back.

The past few days have been spent tackling hedges and taking out a tree. The hedge was encroaching on the garden by more than a foot. It’s been taken back the next task is to lower it. The hedge in the yard behind the house has been taken back and down. It’s actually possible to walk past it without being spiked.

The tree was the central one in a clump of three. Hopefully now it’s gone the other trees will thrive and fill the gap.
