For the first time since we’ve lived here we’ve turned of Th’Esse
In previous summers we’ve thought about it but the warmer days never lasted long enough and the temperature never really rose high enough.
Of course, I realise I may be responsible for a complete change in the weather.
The kitchen is much cooler and more pleasant but its odd not having that instant, constant heat source.
When I baked scones today (cherry and almond, cheese and thyme) I put the trays on top of Th’Esse and then wandered why they weren’t warm when I came to grease them.
I’d forgotten what it’s like to have to preheat an oven.
Tonight we ate potatoes, broadbeans and mangetout fresh from the garden.
